Steps to become a Canadian citizen:

1. Apply for citizenship
2. Citizenship test and interview
3. Oath of citizenship and ceremony

Below are few basic requirements to apply for Canadian citizenship:

• be a permanent resident of Canada
• have lived in Canada for at least 3 years out of 5 years (conditions and exceptions may apply)
• have filed your taxes, if applicable
• pass the citizenship test
• prove your language skills in English or French (conditions and exceptions may apply)
